Fibromyalgia Day is coming up on May 12th! I like to call it Purple Day, because it’s the day we all wear purple to raise awareness of Fibromyalgia. I hope you too, will join me in wearing purple on May 12th to bring attention to Fibromyalgia!
If you need some tips for talking about Fibromyalgia, check out these posts, which go over what this chronic pain is and how it affects someone.
And if you’re looking for something to sew for Purple Day, check out this quick and easy DIY we put together last week.
And, if you’re not much into doing the crafting yourself, my good friend at Benji and Frankie’s Shop can custom-make some amazing and adorable things for you (in all the purple shades, or whatever you fancy)!
Note: Details about the pieces worn in each outfit are below. In some cases where pieces were out of stock, I’ve linked to a similar option when available. Often these pieces have been in my closet for years and/or were thrifted, so info may not be available.

Purple Day
In this week’s post, we’ll be talking about five purple outfits you can wear on Purple Day, that will make you feel powerful. Our purple outfits today feature the DIY top we made last week.
I have to be honest from the start, I really don’t have very much purple in my closet, it’s not really my color or what I like to style. When debating what to sew last week I knew it had to be a DIY that would not only be quick and easy to sew, but it also had to be something that I would wear. The idea of making something big and comfy like a hoodie was intriguing, but it would take too long to make and I didn’t like the color option.
This crop top was the perfect solution! It’s super lightweight, layers well, and with the different colors and layers of tulle, I was able to make a really pretty shade of purple that I can see myself wearing.
I hope you’ll like this outfit inspo, for Purple Day or everyday wear.
Pro Tip: buying a 10 soles bouquet will totally elevate your outfit and make you feel powerful. 10/10 would recommend if you want to feel magical on Fibromyalgia Day! But it’s totally optional and not necessary. Whatever you decide to do for May 12th, make it you, be true, and have fun with it! You are beautiful and amazing and you deserve to feel incredible on Fibromyalgia Day every day!
To make the flower crown, I used something like this floral tape and wire set from Amazon.
Just remember, you. are. powerful. Now let’s go show the world that and that they should take us seriously, no matter how we look on the outside.
Okay, pep talk aside, let’s get into the outfits!
Outfit #One
This was probably the most lightweight and comfy outfit out of them all. If you needed a purple outfit that wasn’t going to hurt to wear, this is probably your best bet.
You can style it up if you add some accessories, maybe a cute fedora hat, a necklace, and some comfy boots.
I know the weather is different where I am vs where you are. So if this isn’t enough warmth for you, I recommend you pair it with some tights, boots, and a jacket and maybe swap the t-shirt dress for a sweater dress. The options for styling this purple top are endless!

- Shoes
- Jean Jacket was purchased from a local store in PerΓΊ
- T-Shirt Dress
Outfit #Two
If you want to go casual, pair this top with some overalls. This is perfect for a warm day as the top is sheer, you won’t be sweating, but you’re also not showing too much skin.
For added warmth, throw a long sleeve on under and add a jacket.

Outfit #Three
Monochromatic purple could be a really cool look! If I had a solid purple top I would have paired that with these shorts instead of the white button-up.
Alternatively, if you want something a little warmer, wear purple pants or leggings instead of shorts. A simple pair of blue jeans would be nice as well. But seriously, consider that monochromatic look, it’s super easy to put together and almost always looks amazing! I love it!
Outfit #Four
A classic black-and-white look with a pop of color is so cute!
Try this with black jeans instead of a denim skirt. Or try a longer skirt and a puffy sleeve white top!
For warmth, add tights or swap for a thick pair of jeans and roll down the sleeves on your button-up.
Fit Details:
- Skirt – I’ve linked to a similar one, mine is from a few years ago.
Outfit #Five
All black with a purple accent? Uh-yes please!
This outfit could be swapped for a short sleeve shirt if you needed something a little more breathable. Or pair it with a denim or leather jacket for some added warmth. A purple beanie would make a great accessory for this outfit if May is a colder month for you!
Outfit #Six
I love the way this purple top looks with a black dress underneath! It really brings out the color in the top. If you’re looking for other dress options, a white, flowy, spring type dress-especially one with puffy sleeves would be another great option!
The only other purple clothing item I own is this purple flannel. I felt like it made a cute accessory at the waist, but I don’t think I would wear it as a layer underneath or over the purple crop top.
This outfit is totally cute without the plaid flannel as well!
If this is too few layers for you, add some booties, tights and a jacket. You could also always do a longer or thicker dress. If you need fewer layers, shed the long sleeve top.
I hope you will take some inspo from these outfits and have fun playing around with them on Fibromyalgia Day! Tag me on Instagram @DoorsAndFloorsBlog if you wear purple with me on May 12th!
