Earlier this year we created this Anthropologie-inspired corset top. You can read about how to make one for yourself here and read about the pattern and design process here.
If you made one, or have something similar already in your closet and you’re looking for some styling ideas. Look no further, I’ve got you covered. In this week’s post, we’re going over six ways to style a corset top. From cute and casual, to date night, and even an office look. There are so many ways you can wear a corset-type top in your everyday life, and it doesn’t just have to be worn with a big poofy dress. Though, for the record, that would be totally cute too!
Now let’s jump into it!

Outfit #One
Corset tops, because of the natural way it hugs your body, pair really well with a baggier bottom piece. In this outfit, I styled the corset top with baggier corduroy pants that I created in another post. Learn how to sew your own statement pants here.
Despite the fact that my corset-style top is bright pink, it pairs beautifully with these bold jeans.
If bright colors aren’t your thing, try pairing yours with a neutral jean color and adding layers for increased warmth. You can easily style a corset top year-round, wearing it with or without layers to dress to your needed warmth.
Outfit #Two
A mini skirt and a lacey top paired with your corset top is such a cute outfit! Try adding tights underneath and a long black trench coat or leather jacket to add warmth. If I had tall boots or a bootie in a matching shade, I’d definitely wear it with this outfit.
This outfit is great for date night or girl’s night out and can be paired with so many fun accessories. From your purse to your jewelry and your makeup. There are endless ways to tweak this outfit to match your vibe!
Outfit #Three
Looking for a gorgeous office look to wear on Friday morning? This look has got YOU written all over it.
Taking a simple button-up and some slacks and pairing them with your corset is an incredibly simple but cute way to style a corset top. If you keep your hair, shoes, and accessories somewhat simple, you could totally get away with this look at the office, and if you bring some sparkly accessories to change into after work, this look is perfect for your Friday evening plans!
Granted, I say all this knowing full well that I work remote…in Perú. But if I had an office to go into I’d rock this look! What about you? Would you wear this to the office?
Outfit #Four
A pair of blue jeans really pulls together the casual essence of this outfit. Throw in an oversized button-up and some sneakers and you’re ready to run errands on the weekend. The beauty of this outfit is it takes little effort to put together while still being cute enough to look like you tried.
If you’re running errands in this outfit, consider styling with a backpack purse or fanny pack, some comfortable shoes, and a messy bun or braids.
My fav fanny pack seems to no longer be available on Amazon, but here is a similar one to the one I got, and I love to pair it with a Rocknot strap to really customize my outfit!
If you want it to look a little more dressy, play with your hair, makeup, and jewelry. Swap the sneakers for a ballet flat, black leather bootie, or a heel, and bring in a less casual purse.
Outfit #Five
This outfit is for the person who loves to wear color and bright, bold outfits!
Pairing the corset top with a matching blouse underneath draws the eye away from your fancier piece. Remember that the corset top snatches the waist, so try pairing it with baggier pants or a baggier top.
This top, in bright colors, paired with an equally fun pant and rainbow shoes really make a statement. Creating a bright, bold, and fun look for any playful and fun weekend adventures.
Outfit #Six
I wore this outfit recently to a little get-together with some friends. I needed something cute and casual without being too over the top. Because we were busy the whole night, I totally forgot to get some great pictures of the full outfit! So we’ll have to manage with mostly descriptions for this one.
This outfit is pulled together by a long button-up blouse/dress thrown over my comfiest leggings. I styled these with bright, colorful chunky sneakers, light makeup, and curled hair. It’s the perfect outfit for when you simultaneously want to be cute and comfortable. This look is great for warm temperatures, but if it’s too cold out you can easily add warmth with an edgy jacket. (Leg warmers could be cute too, if you are into that look.)
I hope you liked this post and found some outfit inspo! Let me know in the comments which one was your favorite and how you’d style a similar corset top.
