Here’s a fun one for you, let’s learn how to say I love you in Spanish.
Valentine’s Day may have been two days ago, but we can still embrace all of the mushy gushy, lovey doveyness of this fun holiday. Because honestly, what relationship lasts if they only embrace the love and affection on February 14th?
In honor of the love holiday, and anyone out there who is trying to learn Spanish as their second language, let’s learn how to express love in Spanish!
My husband and I compiled a list of ten sentences you can say to your sweetheart to tell them just how much they mean to you. I mean, it does mean something extra special of course…if they actually understand you. But hey, you should be repeating these quite often anyway, so by the time the next Valentine’s Day rolls around you both should be fluent in the language of love!
The list below was created in no particular order, my husband and I just had fun coming up with different ways to say I love you in Spanish and we listed them as we thought of them.

One
Okay, I’ll admit it, this post was a bit cheesy to write, but honestly, learning how to flirt in Spanish does help the language-learning journey along. It’s kind of fun! As long as you’re in private and only your person ever hears you. Hah, hah.
If you’re not afraid of a little cheesyness I promise the sentences to follow all sound better in Spanish than they do in English.
To start, here’s one way how you can say I love you in Spanish.
- Spanish: Te amo con todo mi corazón y no puedo vivir sin ti.
- English: I love you with all my heart and I can’t live without you.
To catch the vibe, I highly recommend you get animated when professing your love to your significant other. Flowers help, and proper pronunciations always go a long way.
Two
- Spanish: Mi corazón está lleno por todo el amor que tengo para ti.
- English: My heart is full because of the amount of love I have for you.
I feel like you could totally swing this one after a dinner date. But do make sure you emphasize the “Para ti” in that sentence, and not your dinner plate.
I know, I know…it wasn’t that funny.
Three
This one is fun to me because of the fact that the Spanish version of this sentence is flip-flopped from the way we would say it in English. It makes me smile just reading it.
- Spanish: Me haces feliz de pies a cabeza.
- English: You make me happy from head to toe.
I brought this one up last night and my husband said it doesn’t make any sense, you would never start at your head and go to your toes. It absolutely would have to go the other way around.
Spanish is funny like that sometimes, being a little backward from English and all. The backward aspect of a lot of Spanish sentences still trips me up from time to time.
Four
I feel like this one could go over really well over a book date. Write each other a nicely handwritten note, break out the hot cocoa and your favorite book. Then whip out this newly learned Spanish phrase.
- Spanish: Eres la historia más hermosa de mi vida.
- English: You are the most beautiful story of my life.
If you’re feeling poetic you could absolutely pen a few words on how to say I love you in Spanish, starting with this.
Five
This one is for all of my friends who need a little self-love. It’s an incredible sentence to say to a loved one, and an even better reminder to yourself.
- Spanish: Te amo así tal como eres.
- English: I love you the way you are.
Just remember, when you’re learning how to say I love you in Spanish, it doesn’t all have to be directed at a boyfriend, girlfriend or spouse, there are some sentences here that are great for best friends and more importantly, you.
Six
I first saw this sentence on a Valentine’s Day balloon. I must have repeated it 100 times in an attempt to learn the sentence. It did help that that balloon was in my bedroom, and I could stare at it nonstop for a week and a half until it died.
- Spanish: La sonrisa es mía pero el motivo eres tú.
- English: The smile is mine but the reason is you.
Also by the way, the word for sunrise and the word for smile are two totally different words in Spanish…so try not to confuse the two, given I just put a picture of a sunrise with this sentence.
Seven
- Spanish: Eres el amor de mi vida.
- English: You are the love of my life.
Maybe…like…save this one until you’re ready to propose. It might be a little too much for your casual brunch Spanish chit-chat.
Eight
This one is cute! Especially if you’re both into art.
- Spanish: Eres una obra de arte que podría admirar para siempre.
- English: You are artwork I could admire forever.
If you’re not both into art, clearly it’s a little on the cheesy side. If it doesn’t hit the spot you’ve got plenty of other options to choose from here. Keep scrolling!
Nine
I mean I feel like I’m giving you flirting gold with all of these. Honestly, go out there and write some Spanish poetry, because you’re missing out if you don’t put at least one of these sentences to good use.
- Spanish: Daría cualquier cosa por ver esos hermosos ojos.
- English: I would do anything to see those beautiful eyes.
Ten
You have to agree that I was thorough with this post, I covered all the major topics and taught you how to say I love you in Spanish. Whether you’re into artwork, stories, or just love and Spanish-I’ve got you! And now, if you’re a music lover, this one is for you.
- Spanish: Tu voz es mi canción favorita.
- English: Your voice is my favorite song.
I feel like no matter what your hobby is, there’s got to be a way you can express your true love for your person in a way that most clicks for you. There are plenty of ways to express your love, and now, I hope you can use these phrases in Spanish to take your outward expressions of love just one step further.
Bonus
For next year, when you’re writing your love note for the big love holiday, be sure to start it off with this Spanish sentence.
- Spanish: Feliz día de San Valentin mi amor! Te amo mucho!
- English: Happy Valentine’s day my love! I love you very much!
I hope this really helped you on your journey to learning how to say I love you in Spanish!
